Helicobacter Pylori Test
Helicobacter Pylori Test
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a bacterium that grows in the inner lining of the stomach. It causes a common stomach infection. It is also a main cause of stomach cancer and some types of lymphoma of the stomach. More than 50% population is infected by H. pylori in some regions. H. pylori testing is recommended for anyone with a peptic (stomach or duodenal) ulcer or chronic stomach pain or nausea. Anyone diagnosed with H. pylori should be treated. H. pylori treatment helps to heal the ulcer, reduces the risk of ulcer recurrence, and lowers the risk of bleeding from the ulcer. H. pylori treatment usually involves multiple medications, including at least two antibiotics that help kill the bacteria. Another medication is used to decrease stomach acid production, which aids in ulcer healing. Most people are cured after completing two weeks of medication, although some may require an additional two weeks. It is important to finish the entire course of medication to ensure eradication of the bacteria.
If you experience stomach symptoms or have a family history of stomach cancer or stomach ulcers, we recommend our $260 package, which covers the prescription, a breath test, and drug prescription if the test is positive. After completing the medication, we can schedule a second round of testing and a follow-up appointment with the doctor for $200. All prices include tax.
Please note you must be fasting for a period of 4 hours before the appointment, and no water one hour before the appointment. This ensures the utmost accuracy in your test results.
